Welcome back, dude. Is your game all set up or are you looking for players?
Looking forward to what you have in store.

I've got a small but consistent group of players who are willing to put up with whatever home-brew shenanigans I throw at them, so that front is covered. I'll def be posting materials from that campaign (primarily monsters and setting stuff) as they are completed.

So I feel really dumb right now. As I was leveling up last night I realized that skill tests and focus power tests are different, and therefor you can't spend resource to get +1k0 to focus power checks. How much would break if you could spend resource to add to these checks?
Edit: Actually, it seems like attacks are attack checks and not skill checks, preventing characters from spending resource on them either. I'm really surprised I didn't notice this earlier. I'm mentally revising my entire view of the game right now!

There are ways (emphasis: ways) you can resource boost focus power tests. It wouldn't/doesn't break the game but it should be kept behind exaltation one way or another. I think I have two (radiant, arcane wayfarer) and both of them are locked behind exalts.
Attack rolls can be boosted by resource. Touch/ranged touch I don't know (I'd think so) but normal attacks yes.

Attack rolls are Skill tests, they just follow slightly different rules to skill checks (i.e. attacking keeps the skill value and uses Level instead of a Characteristic). The exception is for spells with the Touch or Ranged Touch keyword, which use Brawl or Ballistics + DEX and thus keeps DEX.
Focus Power tests are not Skill tests and thus don't get to spend resource on them by default.

On page 250 it says that to hit you roll an attack test, and nowhere I've found does it say an attack test is a skill test.

So am I. When rolling to attack, you're using the Ballistics, Brawl, or Weaponry skill, depending on exactly what you're attacking with. Using a skill makes it a skill test. An attack is merely a subset of this, the only thing that's changed is what is rolled and what is kept.

In that same section on 245 it says under Focus Power: "The spell will list the target difficulty and the skill Tested."
So according to the book, your skill with magic schools also counts as skills. Is there an errata about what tests count as other types of tests? For example, attack checks count as skill checks, but do intuitive checks? What about Saving Throws? Is a Characteristic Check a skill check? Is a Skill check a characteristic check?

Focus Power: Magic school rank + Characteristic = not a Skill test Attack: Skill + Level = Skill test Initiative: 1d10 + DEX + CMP = die roll Saving Throw: Arcana + WIL = Skill test
A Characteristic test involves only a Characteristic; the Toxic property, for instance, prompts a CON test.
There is no compiled errata (yet), but the section you're referring to is known to be inconsistent. If a Skill (Arcana, Brawl, etc.) is involved, it's a Skill test.

So yeah you people likely need a introductions section to this forum. Would help a few things out I am certain.
I am someone who noticed this madness during it's conception. The "DTD" game during it's first wtf april posting. I am bored to tears and I love writing/fleshing things out that are not my own thing.
How is everyone ?

How is everyone ? Still stuck in the provinces with bad phone reception. I under3stimated how long my stay here would be. My workplace is in lockdown. I'm responsible for a lot of homebrew although a chunk of them are ports from other people. If the stars align I can finally post my Homebrew Directory...if my signal could keep it together long enough.

My post containing stuff... Oi, Utilize something like Google drive, it has integrity checking and stuff built in for handling low latency. Then hand off that link to someone who can then put it in something you desire. I had to deal with crappy internet for a long while. If there is anything I can do to help, name it and I shall see to it.

GUESS WHO HAS HOME WIFI, FUCKBOYS!!
Granted, it's not the high-speed broadband/optic fiber connection that I wanted. It's just a small, prepaid wifi still subject to the whims of Globe's mediocre telecom towers. Being prepaid also means that I have to periodically reload it instead of having a fixed monthly fee. However it's still slightly more reliable than my mobile data connection.
Time had not been kind to me, I'm practically decaying as a person and the homebrew under my wings were still in progress. Still, I can unrust and slowly get into gear. I just need more time.
What I had been doing in the meanwhile? Power fantasy fanfic in a NSFW forum, although there's no NSFW (yet) and I'm too shy to write one. Updates very sporadically. I also played the first Ghost Recon, it's a lot of fun nailing multiple targets with a single AT rocket. I wonder if that violates the Geneva Conventions. I'm also making monthly flash animations but they're garbage so I'm not linking them yet.
Either way I need to get back into the groove as I slowly return to my old self. Also I have some more household obligations so I'm not as active as I want to be (in that I can't monitor the internet 90% of the time).
EDIT: Nice job, me. Less than five minutes after I make this post did the wifi die for a while. Even my mobile data also couldn't function well. Globe...

Now that I’ve finished aspidakinesis, I’m going to take a break from dtd homebrew for a while. I promised a mala mala jong npc in the artifact thread and I’ve been knocking around an armor creation system but those are probably a slow burn. I’ll still check the forums so if you post I’ll see it in a day or two.
In the meantime I’m going to work on getting a bookkeeping license and an rpg that some friends and I brainstormed in college but we never got close to making.
