Alternate Atlantean - Aeolian
Fluffy bits: More or less the same as Atlantean except powers manifest as near perfect muscle control and minor reality alteration that allow Aeolian's to perform near perfect shots with anything that can be used at range.
Replace the following;
Power | Replaced with |
Magical Aptitude | Bullet Arts |
Prestidigitation | Gunplay |
Paradox | Blowback |
Empower Spell | Empower Shot |
Maximize Spell | Master Gunfighter |
Quicken Spell | Quicken Shot |
Static Powers
Bullet Arts
You begin play with one free rank in any Gun Kata. The character may purchase ranks in that Gun Kata as if they appeared in any class progression he possesses. Trick Shots can ignore cover and may also attack creatures the character can't directly see but have some awareness of around a single corner or bend within Short Range by ricocheting or curving the projectile. Attacks in this way gain two checks due to Concealment.
Gunplay
Gain the Lead Fingers feat. Lead Fingers can now be used within the full listed range of the weapon and if used within Short Range it is treated as if you were using your entire hand instead of just one finger to manipulated objects. The SM has final say on what will work and what won't.
Past Lives
An Aeolian may treat all skills as Basic. They begin play with Speak Language (Syrneth)
Blowback
As Paradox except the Aeolian also unwinds a paradox the fast way by their gun jamming or keeping a 9 on any test as part of a trick shot. Keeping multiple 9s stack if the character has more than one paradox but if their weapon Jams then all accumulated paradox unravels at once, resulting in a +5 to the Phenomena roll per paradox.
Power Stat: Gnosis
Resource Stat: Motes: The character has maximum Motes equal to their Wisdom and Willpower plus double their Gnosis score.
Tell: An Aeolian's tell makes his eye's start to give off a faint glow and/or the iris to morph into a crosshair like pattern. At higher levels, the light emanating from the eye's intensifies greatly and the projectiles from his attacks leave a trail of shimmering golden light. As the Aeolian moves a golden silhouette can be seen moving just slightly before the Aeolian performs his action as if his mind is moving so fast the body cant keep up.
Gnosis | Power Gained
* Ancient Style: The vague memories of the Aeolian's past can greatly influence his present. Some know ancient fighting styles, lost spells, or even fashion and style. Choose any three skills. You may go to six dots in those skills and gain a bonus specialty (Syrneth) in each.
** Empower Shot: By spending 1 Mote, the attack roll for the next ranged attack explode on both a 9 and 10. However, weapon Jams now count any 2's rolled for that attack (e.g. A level 2 character's weapon Jams if he rolls three 1's, three 2's, two 1's and one 2, or one 1 and two 2's).
*** Excellence: You may spend two motes instead of a Hero Point to reroll any skill in which you have a specialization.
**** Master Gunfighter: Once per Scene, the Hero can spend a Hero Point to gain a number of Gun Kata passive advantages they don't already have equal to half his Gnosis. The passives the Hero is allowed to pick must be of a Gun Kata rank equal to or lower than the Hero's Gunslinger level and cannot be an action type (i.e. Aim, Full Auto Burst, etc.)
***** Quicken Shot: Once per turn, the Hero may spend 1 Mote to perform a Trick Shot as a free action.
Aeolian Clan Assets
Blood Clan
Reviled by the other clans, the Blood Clan were obsessed with the thrill of the hunt and that obsession made them start hunting the other clans as they were thought to be the most dangerous game. When the Hero successfully hits an opponent with a ranged attack, the Hero can spend a Mote to brand the target with a hunters mark. This mark provides the same benefits as Arcane Mark with an added effect of a damage bonus equal to the Hero's Gnosis.
Thunder Clan
Inventors, technophiles, and gun-nuts made up the ranks of the Thunder Clan. Members were thought to compete with each other on who could create the best weapons, with the winners design being added to an ever expanding armory. Before making an attack, the Hero can spend a Mote to add additional properties to a ranged weapon he is holding with a maximum value equal to half his Gnosis (rounded up). Properties with a negative value cannot be added to weapons.
Shadow Clan
The Shadow Clan was once a fraternity of assassins and killers that were believed to be responsible for the deaths of targets that were thought impossible to kill. Before making an attack, the Hero may spend a Mote to ignore penalties from battlefield conditions (e.g. Engaged in Melee, Long Range, etc.). The amount of separate penalties ignored is equal to half the Hero's Gnosis (rounded up).
Sky Clan
The Sky Clan stand out amongst the clans in that most were loners with no fixed home and those that did congregate with others would form small tribes no bigger then a couple dozen. Increase the Hero's Initiative by his Gnosis. Before making an attack, the Hero may spend a Mote to allow the Bullet Arts power to be used outside of Trick Shots and allow its use outside of Short Range to a max of the weapons listed range.
Star Clan
At one time the Star Clan was a clan of philosophers and scholars that dedicated themselves to the understanding of both the natural and unnatural world. Select an artifact ammunition when selecting this asset. Before making an attack, the Hero may spend a Mote to replace the ammunition used in the ranged weapon with the chosen artifact ammunition. This allows the ammunition in any type of gun to be replaced, not just weapons with solid ammunition. The Hero can select an additional artifact ammunition at Gnosis 3 and Gnosis 5.
