During and after the death of Khaine, a few claimed vials of his blood rather than merely drinking it then and there. When those prudent individuals observed the curse that the blood bestowed, they chose to instead investigate its properties, carrying out alchemical analyses, magical rituals and esoteric examinations. That group, once they had finished their morbid perusals, created a potion using what little god-blood they had remaining and the flesh of thinking beings, which they promptly consumed, believing it would grant them immortality. It did, but a cursed immortality, requiring they assuage a grim hunger for the flesh of the dead. They became the first Naenians, furtive cousins of Vampires who prowl the night, slaying the living or taking from the kills of others to slake their vile cravings.
STATIC POWERS
Blind Hunter - You are permanently blind. Cataracts mar your natural eyes and will cloud any biological eyes that you manage to replace them with, and an impenetrable mistiness will affect any cybereyes you install. However, thanks to a drastic improvement to your senses of smell and hearing, you can still function normally, save the obvious changes that come with being blind (such as an inability to read). Gain the Heightened Senses (Hearing, Smell) and Blind Fighting feats.
Sunlight Weakness (as the Vampire power)
Undead Resilience (as the Vampire power)
Viscus - Gain Claw [1k1 R; Melee; Brawling] and Bite [2k1 R; Melee; Brawling] natural weapons. You may consume one Size-worth of flesh from the fresh corpse of a sapient being as a process that takes fifteen minutes to restore one Vitae. However, you must spend one Vitae per day or slip into a coma, which can be recovered from by another Naenian feeding them from their own stocks.
Power Stat: Blood Potency
Resource Stat: Vitae
Naenian Strain Assets
Corprus Strain - Once per day, you may regain one Vitae by causing yourself one wound as a half action.
Fomóraig Strain - Gain 3 points of natural armour and you may cast the spell Acid Sheath on yourself using Blood Potency + Level in place of the normal Focus Power test.
Nagaraja Strain - Gain one rank in Necromancy, and you may treat that Spell School as though it appeared in all classes.
Pickman Strain - You may feed from rotting corpses of sapient beings and from the corpses of non-sapient beings to regain Vitae.
Rugaru Strain - Gain the Frenzy feat. Your Bite and Claw natural weapons deal an additional +0k1 damage.
Notes on the Elixir Zeboim
As a Vampire variant which can theoretically be achieved through alchemical means, creating further Naenians is naturally an action some players may wish to undertake. As the original formula for the potion the first Naenians created and consumed is naturally impossible to recreate, enterprising alchemists, arcanists and similar individuals have created adaptations of the formula that use the thick Vitae of Vampires as its basis and add various other ingredients to bridge the gap between mere Exalts and gods. This is theorised by some to be the origin of the Naenian Strains, although others dispute this claim, and at least one forbidden tome asserts that each of the first Naenians exhibited the traits of one of the Strains.
Creating the Elixir Zeboim requires at least one point of Vitae from a Vampire (NOT a Naenian or other Vampire variant), a dead body of a sapient fleshy being and a number of other substances including honey, powdered ivory, asphodel flowers and assorted fungi that grow only in graveyards. Once the potion has been brewed and allowed to settle, it can be consumed by any mortal. This will kill them, but they will reanimate three days later as a Naenian. At the ST's discretion, the new Naenian may or may not have a Strain Asset, depending upon the ingredients used, the phases of the moons or moon-analogues, the time of day of reanimation or consumption of the Elixir or any number of other influences.
