Homebrew Alignment: The Profit

The Profit, Realization of Ambition, Taker of Wealth and The Invisible Hand:
The Profit is a "unique" faith to say the least, Merchants, Bankers, Hustlers, Kings, Thieves, Mercenaries and all who desire ever greater wealth, power and privilege pursue "The Profit". Many Pursuers of The Profit are always interpreting and re-interpreting what The Profit is about, many claim to be Soothsayers and Prophets of The Profit stating that they may see it's "Invisible Hand" and use this for their own gain, this is clearly false..or is it? Even these False Profits are in tune with The Profit, as to be with Profit is to realize your Ambitions, Indulge in Wealth, Power and Privilege, and to endlessly pursue all these things by any means be it deceit, violence, vision or merit. For those who Pursue the Profit, enough is never enough. It is not enough to simply have any of these things valued by the Profit you must have more than others by great amounts. It is not enough to earn a living, but to have the means to truly live.


The Art of the Deal and The Laws of Power: The Profit despite it's vagueness is relatively easy to understand, get money, further your own goals and put yourself above others by any means. This has not stopped many from claiming to know the designs of The Profit, many tell-all books about how to acquire wealth and power and everyone is an "expert", some write rules of acquisition and set guidelines in order to get others to play by their rules to their own gain. this has made The Profit a rather confusing belief as despite the falsehood of these claims they are still properly following Profit. In Truth how you pursue Profit doesn't matter only succeeding does, knowing this truth is what separates one from the lowly and elevates you towards Profit.

The Benefits of Greed and Ambition: Some view The Profit as a malignance, a font of corruption in society everywhere, aggressive, selfish and cruel. But The Profit is the embodiment of Progress, the need to improve and gain, ambition and motivation towards goals. Without these traits people would lie around doing nothing, wanting for nothing, all would stagnate. The Profit is the enemy of such Stagnation and Sloth, The Profit promotes progress and growth, to stay idle and accept mediocrity is the cardinal sin of The Profit and those without Ambition deserve to be exploited.

Right off the batch, the asset is overpowered. Massively.
Wealth, Inheritance and Holdings all tend to have physical, numerical attachment and more direct rules compared to others. Slightly less clear as well. I'd hope and presume that holdings used on Spelljammers would be read as two spelljammers of equal BP (Or a Spelljammer and a building) rather than trying to dump the combined BP into one, which would be absurd.

The wealth bonus is even more concerning though because it something you roll more often as dice. If you have 5 wealth and the benefits double, do you have 5 wealth twice and still roll only 5k5 on wealth tests? That could be useful for making separate tests and endangering your wealth separately but I think it is going to read as double the rolled dice so you'd be rolling an insane 10k10 on wealth. A similar ability the mastermind does that for Contacts: You get twice as many Major Contacts with it but when you roll minor contacts you double the benefit, IE, roll twice as many dice (although your keep is still based on your charisma or fellowship). Doing that with Wealth is insane, you'd average 61, more than enough to buy anything with ease and far away from even the most potent base game wealth altering abilities.

The 2nd part, adding your wealth to your alignment checks, is also busted because you're already adding your powerstat. It makes it functionally impossible to have your alignment fall ever meaning you could make a point to break every alignment conviction with no concern. It would also likely benefit from the "doubled benefit" as well with the current wording, meaning you'd start with a +10 to alignment checks and be immune to ever losing alignment from the very beginning.

EDIT: Also, which pantheon is this one in? It doesn't specifically say. I presume Grey Council.
