Racial Feats
Big Kaboom!: Some Giff just like watching big explosions. You gain +1k0 to all Ballistics tests involving explosives.
Anti-Magic Body: Giff bodies sometimes seem to naturally repel magic. All magic-related tests (including tests to use magical items) made by or targeting you are made at -2k0.
Ballistic Discount: Guns are as good as gold for a Giff, and if those guns blow things up they're better still. You may reduce the TN of Wealth Tests to involving Ranged Weapons by 5 and reduce the TN of Wealth Tests involving weapons that deal X damage or have the Blast Property by an additional 5. The maximum TN of these items you can find in a location is increased by the same amount.
One-In-A-Million Shot [Paragon]: The most legendary Giff are capable of imbuing their shots with strange power. You may spend an Action Point to treat a single attack with a ballistic weapon as being made with Artifact ammunition of your choice. This does not consume any ammunition, and does not incur the magic item penalty of the Anti-Magic Body feat.
Physical Qualities
Giff are large humanoid ungulates with stocky, broad frames characterized by long muzzles, nearly hairless bodies, and wide-opening jaws. Their skin is usually monochromatic tones, though Giff of vibrant colors like green, pink, or gold are not totally unusual. They have a habit of covering themselves with tattoos celebrating their victories, with older Giff acting as walking tapestries of war and history.
There is limited physical variance between individual Giff outside of skin tone, which itself holds little consistency even within family lines. This, combined with the lack of any known records that mention a Giff homeworld has cast suspicion as to their true origins, though the Giff themselves regard the topic with general indifference and the Wheel at large is far more interested in their value as hired killers.
Playing a Giff
Giff are honest, focused, and determined. Their merit as mercenaries comes not from their strength or ordinance, but from their sheer dedication to orders, ignoring odds, casualty, and morality in pursuit of the glory of success. Giff companies trade their services for useful goods such as food and gear, though they consider explosive materials like gunpowder especially valuable. As they are often paid in advance, it’s near impossible to steer a Giff from their goal, even if their employer is already dead.
Though one might assume they are a stoic and bloody-minded people, the opposite is generally true. They are known for a chummy and gregarious demeanor, and often said that there are few better to share a drink with than a Giff. They're also fans of a friendly brawl, though everyone from Sigil to Baator knows not to pull a knife unless they’re ready for a fight to the death.
The one thing that the Giff are passionate about above all else is explosives. There are few things a Giff loves more than a good kaboom, and everything from their tactics to their choice in weaponry to their very culture is influenced by this, with the Giff mark of adulthood being the ability to survive a black powder blunderbuss exploding in their hands.
Giff Heroes
Reginald Buffington was a standard Giff until he was ambushed by strange creatures while on duty. By the time he awoke his platoon was gone and he found himself incapable of caring, lost in an all consuming hunger for the flesh of the living.
