Constructed through an unlikely alliance between a small sect of rogue C'Tan and Syrneth known only as "The Ones", the god-world-robot Qolaraloq was as large as a planet, with continental organs inhabited by sapient robotic "cells" which maintained and worshiped it. It roamed the Astral Sea, visiting crystal spheres and observing what it found. But Qolaraloq's most powerful and trusted servant, the Makatakam, grew prideful and betrayed it, seizing its mighty body for their own and casting it out onto the shattered remains of Oroboro, the world it was created on. However, the Qolaraloq underestimated the heroes which inhabited the robot-world, and were unaware of a smaller robot which had been created by The Ones as a prototype. Qolaraloq found and took control of the dormant giant, and in the following titanic battle both robots were destroyed, scattering their remains across the entire Crystal Sphere, and scattering those Qolaraloq inhabitants which escaped to the Crystal Spheres.
The material which made Qolaraloq possible was Protodermis, which was created (or perhaps uncovered) by The Ones, which has an amazing versatility and a kind of fundamentality. Protodermis can act as rock, or water, or metal, or even a lethal mutagen. Qolaraloq was literally entirely made out of it. Protodermis can, indeed, do anything, and although the secrets to changing which thing it does was lost when Qolaraloq's body was destroyed, the Oroboro asteroid belt is now littered with trillions of tons of it, and has become something of a scavenging hotspot. Though Protodermis artifacts are weaker than those made of more...defined magical materials, they also are also cheaper, and cost 1 less dot to purchase. Protodermis artifacts that would be 0 dots are instead treated as ordinary Very Rare equipment, and can be bought with Inheritance or purchased normally. They can also be bought as if they were 1-dot Artifacts, if you so choose.

Bionic Arm: The TN of any non-combat Skill Test which relies on this arm and in which you have an applicable specialty is reduced by 5.
Bionic Locomotion: When you take I or X damage while standing, you can choose to fall prone in order to halve that damage.
Bionic Heart: If you have taken no critical damage to your gizzards, the TN of any Medicae Test to heal you is decreased by 5.
Promethean Material Asset: Protodermis has versatile properties, and modifying it is easy. You can always spend Experience as if you were in Free Study.
