Yes, otherwise the transition would be rather jarring from setting the wrong first impressions. IMO the roll-and-keep system isn't hard if you introduce it right. The XkY system at its core is "roll X d10s, count the Y highest", although the factor of exploding dice and specialties does add a layer of complexity. You can simplify it to merely "add +5 to the final result for each die that turns up 10" for explosions. If you're playing with actual dice, I could see why you'd want to simplify it. Personally I just keep an offline copy of Roll20's Dice Roller page to make it easier for me. There are other utilities out there that can help the counting of dice.

I'm gonna try as it si, just want to have a second option ready in case combat becomes too slow.
Yeah, speaking of right introductions... I'm aiming for small steps.
I am not sure how this will turn. What I foresee is campaigns going in very unexpected ways in DtD.
