This thread is for materials that have special properties (like silver) but are not sufficient to be considered artifact-worthy. Generally, making an item from one of these materials necessitates it be at least good-quality, but not always.
Gold: Gold is valuable for its ability to retain its purity. Gold does not corrode or dissolve. Weapons and armor made of gold are not affected by decay, supernatural conditions, or magic -for good or for ill-.
Mercury: Mercury (or quicksilver) is a liquid metal at room temperature, but its unassuming appearance belies its incredible power. Mercury can be used to replace its own weight of any single material needed to cast a spell or create an alchemic product. Pure mercury is used for busting ghosts, and can hit incorporeal targets. The techniques to make mercury semisolid mandate the item be best quality to be usable.
Copper: Copper is an easy metal to work with and when properly worked with can be quite beautiful. If you get a raise while crafting something with copper, its rarity is increased by one step. Copper items do not receive the benefits of being Best quality, but may still be that quality.
Silver: Various beings interact with silver in different ways. Their profiles will mention their interactions.
Iron: Weapons made purely of iron (as opposed to steel) are interact with certain beings in special ways. Their profiles will mention this interaction. Weapons made of iron are never of Good or Best quality, and have their rarity increased by one step.
Lead: Lead is heavy but versatile. Damage dealt by a lead weapon heals at half the rate normal damage does.
