Starmetal is a peculiar metal, harvested from the concept of luck which, in the Warp, is occasionally made manifest in small deposits which shimmer with opalescence. Starmetal comes in two forms: a deep grey metal, so dark that it's mistaken for black, and a bright silvery metal, which could, under some circumstances, appear very similar to platinum.
The two forms of starmetal have bizarrely opposed qualities: the dark form, commonly refered to as "black" starmetal, causes bad luck to befall those around it, while the bright form, "white" starmetal, causes good fortune for those around it.
Weapons and armour made of the two forms of starmetal tend to bestow their blessings upon their users, or their curses upon their users' enemies. However, some "bleed" is inevitable. Bionics of black starmetal are almost unheard of, as they tend to only inflict their curses upon the bearer, but white starmetal, if it can be found, is extremely useful when made into bionics.
Black Starmetal
Melee Weapon - Opponents struck by this weapon take a check to all their rolls next turn. However, all your attacks made with this weapon are made at a penalty of -1.
Ranged Weapon - Opponents struck by this weapon take a check to all their rolls next turn. However, all your attacks made with this weapon are made at a penalty of -1.
Special Ammunition - Opponents struck by this ammunition cannot have their dice explode for the next test they make. However, attacks made using this ammunition also cannot have their damage dice explode.
Armour - Opponents attempting to strike you take a check to their tests. However, opponents who strike you deal an extra point of damage to you, before damage reduction.
Bionic Arm - Tests made using this arm take a -1k0 penalty, except when using them to attack. Brawl attacks made using black starmetal arms count as being made with natural melee weapons made of black starmetal.
Bionic Locomotion - Tests made using this locomotion (such as most Athletics or Acrobatics tests) take a -1k0 penalty, except when using them to attack. Brawl attacks made using black starmetal legs count as being made with natural melee weapons made of black starmetal.
Bionic Heart - This is a terrible idea. Why would you even consider this? You take a -1k1 penalty to all rolls you make. However, being constantly exposed to such a concentrated source of bad luck does have a couple of upsides: you are immune to the spell Unluck, and can cast it using Level + Wisdom in place of the normal Focus Power test.
White Starmetal
Melee Weapon - This weapon grants +1k0 and a free raise on all tests to attack or parry. However, all opponents struck by it get a +1 bonus to all their tests next turn.
Ranged Weapon - This weapon grants +1k0 and a free raise on all tests to attack. However, all opponents struck by it get a +1 bonus to all their tests next turn.
Special Ammunition - Attacks made using this ammunition gain the Volatile quality. However, opponents struck by it reroll all 1s on their next test (as though they had an applicable speciality).
Armour - Your static defense is increased by 5 while wearing this armour. However, opponents who strike you deal +1 damage on their next attack.
Bionic Arm - Tests made using this arm gain a +1k0 bonus.
Bionic Locomotion - Tests made using this locomotion (such as most Athletics or Acrobatics tests) gain a +1k0 bonus.
Bionic Heart - You gain a +1k0 bonus to all rolls you make.
Black Starmetal (Promethean Material Asset)
You are composed of starmetal, a material harvested from the depths of the Warp that has peculiar effects upon luck. You happen to be made of the black variety, which inflicts ill fortune on those around it. Once per day, you may cast the spell Unluck, using Generation + Wisdom in place of the usual Focus Power test. However, it affects you and all those around you within a 10 m radius, instead of the normal single target.
White Starmetal (Promethean Material Asset)
You are composed of starmetal, a material harvested from the depths of the Warp that has peculiar effects upon luck. You happen to be made of the white variety, which grants good fortune to those around it. Once per scene, you may cast the spell Luck, using Generation + Wisdom in place of the usual Focus Power tests.
