I have nerfed kunda and dim by making clear, in no uncertain terms, that even if the saving throw fails, it can still mitigate the effects of the spell. As far as I know, there are no spells with a saving throw that have raise-based efficacy. I had presumed that, much like dodging a full auto or aimed accurate weapon attack, even a failed save would still mitigate the effects. That is not, in fact, how it works with saving throws, because this game runs off of spaghetti code.
I request that the masterposts be edited accordingly.

Going to clarify that for those who weren't in on the discussion: Spells that scale with raises typically determine said scaling by the result of the Focus Power test. The result of the Focus Power test then becomes the TN for any Saving Throw made against it.
A spell that allows a Saving Throw is not an opposed test and would not have raises over the result of the Saving Throw; rather, the Saving Throw would instead have checks under the result of the Focus Power test.

This spell is treated as a surface bombardment with a lance weapon, except you roll Evocation + Charisma for the damage caused by the blast wave. You can use the results of this spell's magic test in place of a Ballistics test made as part of a Shot Guns action, in which case the caster is treated as an Orgone Heavy Cannon emplacement instead.

so. The polymorph spell's drastic rework in this thread. it turns a "touch someone else to turn them into a wolf (and absolutely nothing else" to "the caster (and only the caster) may wild shape without needing the wild shape feats". It also still has the touch keyword and I'm convinced that not being able to put it onto others is a result of copypaste error made at some point along the way because of that. So, I'm proposing tweaking the spell effect to the following: The touched creature may turn into an animal. This allows them to shift their physical stats around slightly, taking up to two points from one of their physical stats (to a minimum of 1 - if you only have 1 in a stat you cannot remove that last point from it) and put them on other physical stats. they may also choose to gain one of the following traits: Quadruped, Crawler, Amphibious, Armor Plating (2), Dark Sight, Flyer, Aura (2). While using this spell, the creature appears as a normal animal of whatever type they've chosen to turn into, and gain a natural weapon with the following profile; 1k1, R or I, Brawling. Their equipment melds into their new form and they lose any effects it gives. The touched creature remains in animal shape until the spell ends, and they may end it early as a full action. |
aside from that; death ward. a spell that seems simple but is vague enough to be an argument starter, as learned by recent experience. The final interpretation that the table came to is it negates the killing blow in its entirety but going no further, so I'm proposing changing the spell to the following form because of that. Death Ward Healing 2 Test: Healing + Wisdom Target Number: 20 Action: Full Action Keywords: Touch, Somatic, Verbal, Social Duration: One Day The touched target is warded against death. The next time the target would die during the duration of the effect, he survives, with the killing blow or effect being completely negated, and the spell immediately ending thereafter. This means the spell does not continuously protect against continuous effects that would kill someone, such as being dropped into the Astral Sea unprotected, walking out of an airlock on Venus in your underwear, or falling into molten lava.

Basically; you eat a big ball of acid to the face and die? the big ball of acid somehow *doesn't* hit you now. you *continue* standing where whatever shot you with acid can easily shoot you with it again? thats your own fault. I suppose this also means if you need only a moment or two (ie; a single round, basically) to get yourself *out* of that continuous effect? then sure yeah you'd live unless something unfortunate happened such as you beefing the focus power test for your teleport spell or something. The spell is a one-time safety net not a "you are never going to lose hero points to combat ever again" button.

Polymorph is now the book 2 version. The previous iteration was likely a copypaste error from an earlier iteration in Tapatalk/Zetaboards. Here's the previous edition for comparison

So, if I may throw my own 2 cents into the ring, why not bring back the "animal form polymorph" spell as a new thing. I'm still advocating for making it a touch spell you can cast on whoever you touch, but I *also* think it should be made a level 4 spell, and probably have the TN bumped up to 30. I already posted my personal take on effect text but given that improved wild shape was a 5th level feat (even if it was from one of the easiest classes to speedlevel through) I think a level and TN increase is appropriate. something like this.
Baleful Polymorph Transmutation 4 Test: Transmutation + Wisdom Target Number: 30 Action: Full Action Keywords: Material, Somatic, Touch, Verbal, Saving Throw Duration: One scene. The touched creature is turned into an animal. This allows you to shift their physical stats around slightly, taking up to two points from one of their physical stats (to a minimum of 1 - if you only have 1 in a stat you cannot remove that last point from it) and put them on other physical stats. aside from the level increase of the spell, compared to my prior proposition for this spell I also removed it giving a free natural weapon and tweaked it so that its a forced thing with the caster determining the exact outcome, but also gave it a save, with shapechangers able to automatically resist if they want. Another key thing is that since its a level 4 spell, that means it competes with primal power, so getting it means giving up *that* spell, or going out of your way to grab a spell book.

With the grand rituals thread a thing, I feel there's a better home for Path to Victory. A replacement spell has been added called Portent, based on the subclass feature from D&D 5e.
"That's a very nice roll you got there, I'll take it for myself. Here, have a 35 for your troubles."
EDIT: Current spell is now Greater Portent while its name goes to a weaker Level 2 variant. It also specifies tests instead of any roll.

This effect can be resisted with an Arcana + Constitution test. This saving throw can be repeated once per round whenever the target is struck by an ally. Additionally, any character who recognizes the effect of the spell can attempt to end the effect with an Arcana + Wisdom test as a Full Action that provokes opportunity attacks.

I understand what you're going for but that wording feels so wrong even though Hellzone Grenade is also a thing which doesn't have an attack roll. Doesn't Charm Person also have a range limit? It doesn't although charming people from kilometers away has little effect if they're not aware of who they're charmed for.

Detect Thots Divination 1 Target Number: 15 Action: Half Action Duration: Instant Keywords: Subtle, Social, Mind-Affecting
You are able to detect surface thots. This allows you to discern the existence of female sentients of loose moral and low conscientiousness within 1km above ground. If you pass the test, you can more accurately discern their locations and severity of demeanor, even detecting the thots underground.
